Elisabeth von Essoe, HORRIBILI ANNIS MCMXIV-XVI (The Years of Horror, 1914-16), 1916, Cast Iron, 67.5mm, wt.97.4g. UNC RR.

A softly executed, but truly Expressionistic, early work of von Essoe.

Obverse: Skeletal head of Death, right, in radiate crown with a serpent coiled around the neck.

Reverse: Standing crowned figure, left, holding sword and shield. Orb at right. Signature in exergue.

I will need to research the Latin text on the reverse.

Nice one - Very interesting that it is cast iron!! Because of the high melting temperatures and porosity problems, that is an unusual choice of metal to use for coins or medals.

More likely "If God is With Us, Who Can Be Against Us" - taken from a Biblical passage I think.
