Chris Rock's "Quote of the Year"... (and VAM MORGANS)

”You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy,
the best golfer is a black guy,
the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese,
the Swiss hold the America's Cup,
France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance,
Germany doesn't want to go to war,
and the three most powerful men in America are named Bush, Dick, and Colon.“

<< <i>Nice VAM! I just cherried an MS63 this week. That gem of yours is a real find. >>
Thank you very much. It's actually a 10A. When I cherried it, it was the most expensive coin I had ever bought and it scared me silly when I went through with it. I've been cherrypicking TOP 100's & HOT 50's in insane PCGS & NGC MS65-67 grades recently, and to be quite honest, I just can't afford to deal in those numbers yet. I need to get back into more reasonably priced coins. So, unfortunately, I have to let her go because I'm trying to put together some extra cash for the FUN show.

I try to work with higher grade material myself and I certainly know that feeling after outlaying a nice chunk of change. Last time I recall was when I won my 1901-P and 1892-O DMPLs in the same auction. It was one of those experiences you know is just right but also fear the wife will kill you. Worked out well and I believe are great coins.
Maybe a bunch of us VAMers can do a lunch or dinner during the show. I know FRI night I have the NSDR awards banquet and FRI afternoon is the PCGS luncheon. Probably more will be around on Saturday. If so, we can plan something at the VAM Thing.

<< <i>I'll be at the VAM thing and at the PCGS luncheon as well. >>
Details??? Date/Time/Location?
4:00-5:30 PM - Educational Seminar. “Third Annual SSDC VAM Thing,”
by Jeff Oxman, Michael Fey, Ph.D., and the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors. The FUN convention is the site for the 3rd annual VAM meeting for advanced Morgan and Peace dollar variety collectors. It promises to be a bonanza for the dollar variety enthusiast! Room 220C.
The PCGS Registry Luncheon was an RSVP for the adjacent hotel. I will go to that one provided I am not overcome with cherrypicking.

I checked my 90-O VAM 10s for the VAM 10A gouge on the reverse and they all have it. Is the comet ever found without the reverse gouge?

I can only say that of the 4 examples I've owned, all of them had the reverse gouge. That's interesting.

The one I picked off of Teletrade several weeks back doesn't have the gouge. I had always assumed it was normal for the coin because I've always seen that gouge on the 1890-O v10.

<< <i>I think PCGS is going to owe me a free submission. They assured me that my Rudolph variety would be slabbed and returned before Christmas. >>
I need to find me one of those!
