Submission Grades just in.....

The first four, the 1957's and the McCovey rookie belong to a fellow board member. The rest are mine. The Gretzky rookie is in no way trimmed. I have about 6 or 7 Gretzky rookies and ALL of them we obtained via me opening or my brother opening packs back in the early 1980's. No sure how they came to that conclusion. Here are the grades:

1 31376933 1957 TOPPS 55 ERNIE BANKS N/A Not Holdered, Re-Colored
2 31376934 1957 TOPPS 75 JIM PIERSALL N/A 7
3 31376935 1957 TOPPS 110 BILL VIRDON N/A 6
4 31376936 1960 TOPPS 316 WILLIE McCOVEY ALL-STAR ROOKIE 4

69 clemente psa fetches a nice chunk of change on e-bay, if you're interested in selling to public or whatever.

what is typical re-coloring for a 57?? the actual photo part looks just like my psa 6 graded banks....could it be the white border??? some sort of white paint at the tips or something?? What should I look for??

I had a 1960 common come back recolored that I bought from a very reputable dealer. I can't find it and am not sure what you would recolor on a 1960 card, especially a common. I am going to send it back and if they say recolered again, I will accept it. the gretzky just may be small , I have opc's that I know came from packs and came back minimum size requirement. measure it up when you get it back and I am betting that is what you will find.

Great question Loth. I just got some 69fb's in the mail and they look like strong 8's possible 9's but there is bleeding on the back near the top border. I was wondering if someone took a marker to it. Anyone who has any info would be appreciated.

  • I just got a 55 bowman banks back recolored. They labeled with colored arrows where exactly it had been recolored...it had been. Then again 55 bowmans are easier to recolor

Had a '1962 Maris WS come back colored and they put the arrows in the corner as well.

Funny thing was that I bought it from a dealer about 20 years ago, so re-coloring has been around a long time.
