Twas the week before Christmas and all through the coin shop...

Not a creature was stirring... except for yours truly, frolicking around like a kid in a candy store!
Based on mrfred's recommendation, I drove up I-57 to Gilman, IL, to visit B&R Coin Shop. I got there at 12:00pm and 5.5 hours later my eyes were weary, my back was sore, but I had a nice big bag o' coins. The owner and his wife are two of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. They offered me homemade cookies and fudge, and even asked if I wanted a beer or mixed drink while I went through the coins. Talk about making you feel at home!
After I'd been there an hour or so, who should walk in, but mrfred himself! I got to meet the very gentleman who just the other day informed me about the shop here in the board. It's a small world!
There was a lot of traffic throughout the day; most folks dropping in to sit a while and chat. This shop definitely seems to be a social hotspot, which contributes to its atmosphere.
All of the coins I picked up were minors; no crowns to be had. No real big-ticket items, but lots of nice original, good-quality, low-dollar coins (pics will be coming over the next few days, once I get a little more organized).
Prices were very reasonable, usually 50% of Krause. The owner is very willing to cut better deals the more you spend. I put together several stacks of coins totalling roughly $765 in marked prices. The owner came back with "How's $300?" Are ya kidding me? 39% of Krause? You betcha! That's a considerably better discount than most shops give...
Merry Christmas to me!
All in all a very enjoyable day, and I will most definitely be making a return trip!

There are two dealers here with Darkside material. One guy will give me maybe 10% to 15% off Krause (20% if I'm buying a lot of it at once); the other guy won't budge off of Krause prices. Guess who gets my business
