My aunt got a new pancreas and kidney today and that is the best gift my whole family ever could have gotten. She came through the 8 hour surgery and is doing great!

Thanks for the response, and no kidding I am getting my memory foam bed delivered tomorrow! I am so excited! We got the restonic moonlight because it was cheaper than the the tempurpedic and IMO more comfortable because it has the typical matress covering.

Edited to add: and Merry Christmas to you Stone and kuhl and everyone else!

  • Good luck on the root canal. Great to hear about your aunt, Zef!

I know that I will at least be getting one book. The Sporting News' Top 100 Baseball Players of all Time. That's the only sports related item she will buy. She gets kind of frustrated with my "hobby" because I'm kind of particular.

    Cheers! Wick

That's great news! All my best to your aunt.

I got a temprapedic (sp?) king size bed a year ago - it's fantastic - sleep very well and also, when the other person gets in the bed - you won't even know they got in there.

    Merry Christmas

...all I want for Christmas is my No-vem-ber sub...No-vem-ber sub... (sing to the tune of "all I want for xmas")

Please, I've seen no fewer than 10 subs that arrived days after mine that have been done already.

Other than that, I hope everyone that won my auctions pays me in a timely manner and I can pay off that trip to Jamaica come 1/10/06. Anyone gonna be at Sandals Whitehouse 2/25/06-03/04/06? image well, besides me that is...

Heh heh.. the part I thought was funny was the fact that you said the selling point for the mattress was the fact that someone else could crawl in and you'd never even know it.

In any case you're a step ahead of me-- I've only been married 3 years and I already spend 90% of my nights asleep on the couch in the basement image

Thats the part I thought was funny. I am going to get married in 10 months and we opted for a king size bed already. A dog and 2 cats vying for position on a full size is enough to drive you crazy image

  • What am I getting? Aggravation, nothing but aggravation.

Actually, I saw some baseball card video game(?) at Target tonight...looked neat.
  • As a fellow kidney and pancreas transplant person, let me add my congratulations to your Aunt, Zef. Please feel free to email me if your family or your aunt has any questions about this. Sometimes it is nice to be able to talk with someone who has been through this before. Please give my best to your aunt and I am hoping for a quick recovery for her soon.

As for my Christmas, all I have to say is BAH HUMBUG, since my birthday is Christmas Eve and having just hit the big 50 last year, I'm not in the mood for anymore birthdays, but I'm thinking the Topps All American Hobby box I'm getting might ease the pain somewhat.

I am not sure what to expect, we bought ourselves new bedroom furniture, first time since we have been married (16 yrs). We said we would not get eachother anything, but my wife knows me well enough to know that I never stick by that agreement. Though she would never dare buy my any type of cards, she has no clue what I am collecting, just sees them laying around.

I think I'm in love with your wife Mike, nice gift!!!!

    image

Seriously, my wife and I have been missing a few opportunities to video the kids with our ancient VHS player so we broke down and bought a new Sony Handycam DVD recorder as a gift for each other. That set us back about $750 and a promise not to buy each other anything else. (Of course, I didn't fall for that and have a couple of small gifts on backup for Christmas morning) But I'm not expecting much. Now we'll be taping christmas morning, christmas eve, first basketball games, football games, school plays, etc.

On a bright note, my birthday is the first week of March, so my wife buys me a couple boxes of Heritage each year as that is usually the release week. Looks like you'll be getting your christmas present the same time I'm getting my birthday gift.

    Merry Christmas all

I for one don't get anything. The wife and I decided it would be fun to build a new house. I had no idea that it would cut into my card budget. Stupid house! I wonder if mom still has my old room available...

I sent some cards in to PSA in November (I think 40 cards) and I never opened them or looked on-line (really). My wife is wrapping them up. Plus, she bought me (with my help) a box of 1980 Topps wax from BBCExchange and a box of '78 OpeeChee wax off the Bay. I had been banking on getting all of that on the 25th but actually we celebrate Chanukah too so I might have it gifted to me the 25th and the 8 nights!? Oh well, whenever it all comes to me it will be fun to open! Happy holidays to all.

Bought myself a Christmas present yesterday... a game used Edmonton Oilers Fernando Pisani jersey from this season. Got it from meigray.com

I think I'll be getting a game used Grant Fuhr stick from his time here in Edmonton.. maybe a box of cards no idea what else but I can't wait! We'll be opening our presents tomorrow with family since my wife and I will be going out of town for xmas. image

Wow - when I saw this - I thought - when did I write this? Then I saw the date.

    Now about Christmas....

we bought a new tree from Lowes - the thing cost almost 300$!!!!

it took only 2 minutes to put up and then I spent like 2 hours spreading the freakin' branches to make it look like a damn tree!!!!

I wanna go back to the real ones!

My wife asked me what I want for Christmas?

    I'm working on it...

My wife has been hyping me up about this awesome gift she is getting me, and she has been looking all over the bay with her brother and a friend. She finally won it and was talking about how much I was going to love it. After paying close attention, I deduced that she was getting me an autographed something or other, most likely a Royals auto, and narrowing down the significant players in Royals history, I knew it would be a George Brett autograph on something.

So she wins the item and then goes on about how she is now bidding on something else that goes with it. (This is her first experience with EBay and I am now concerned as she spends much more time online shopping). She was the high bidder with about a day left and was confident that she was going to get it. My Bay experience tells me that the bids don't really come in until the last few hours. Last night she tells me that she lost on the secondary item and she was mad at the A-hole that outbid her. I told her that you can rarely win on Ebay with just an early bid unless it is a high early bid. She then says "But it worked for the bat"

"So you got me a bat for Christmas?"

She is now upset at me for "tricking her" into telling me.

  • I wasn't here last year, so ....

Mike, hope the root canal went well!

Zef, hope your aunt is doing great!

Oddly enough, my fiancee and I have been seriously talking about purchasing a new bed. How are those sleep memory ones? If you guys don't mind me asking, what do they go for? The one we've got now has broken support beams (I don't want to hear it image) and she's been complaining of head aches and sore stuff.

And, since we're on the topic, I too just bought myself a Christmas present. I wasn't going to get spend any more $ before XMas but decided I probably won't get any cards or DVDs (my true passion) for XMas anyway so I might as well splurge on myself. Picked up a 1967 Panini Jack Dempsey PSA 8 for my Master set. No more purchases from here on out for a while though image

Every Christmas since we've been married (2000), my wife has given me the most current version of Madden NFL for the PS2... That is, she did up until last year. Maybe it was a hint. However, I remain hopeful that she'll revive the tradition this year.

I figured I would stick with the "whole memory bed theme" and possibly hit the "buy it Now" for this baby.

If I purchase this now and put it away for the next 50 years I wont have to buy one when Im super old. This way, with all the money I would have spent 50 years from now, I can buy some more Emmitt cards for my registry image

  • I'm getting an ULCER from getting cards graded to selling, buying and trading !! I hate waiting for grading !! I hate waiting when you buy something you look forward in getting !! And the best one is getting what you were waiting for to find out it isn't in the condition as advertised or better yet the seller did the switcheroo !!
Sent in 6 subs, really 5 because 1 is mechanical error. 4 have been punched in and the other 2 are in limbo !! I called and they basically said it depends what service level. I think PSA is back logged on the special !!
