Canadian coin question....

I have 2 coins that were collected by my grandfather & kept in a coin purse for years with others !! One is a Canadian 1903 5 cent piece which is very small, much smaller than ours. The other one is a Canadian dime from 1941 and it is smaller than the 5 cent piece !! Is this size common in Canadian coins ? I mean I have some that are small but these are microscopic !! Anyone know the relative value??

The 5 cent piece is five cent silver, also known as a fishscale. Depending on grade it is worth $.50 to $3000

The Canadian 10c is not smaller than a 5c. Are you sure it is Canadian? Does it have Canada above the sail boat on the reverse?

Sorry about that ! I looked again after I posted that & it is not Canadian , it is from the Netherlands ! I have looked at so many small ones that my eyes are blurring !! As to condition, I am not going to even guess . It is very dark but I can make out most of the detail and the letters & date are fine and if my eyes were better I could read the lettering around Edwards profile !! It needs cleaning badly !! And yes I know that is a no-no !!

Hi Mart, I'm with ajaan, the 1903 canadian nickel (silver) was that same small size from 1858 (queen Victoria) to 1921 (1901-1910 Edward VII) & (1911-1921 George V). The 1921 is rare as most of these were melted. Don't now about your 41 dime. In the real world, the dime should be about twice the size of the silver nickels (oxymoron?)...........what you may have and it is only a guess is a counterfeit shrunken coin or you are misidentifying it.

Your dime should have a bust of George the VI on the obverse and the reverse should have a fishing schooner under sail.

Again if the dime is smaller than the silver nickel.............it's not real.........Rick
