1906 philippine proof 10C ???????

Nothing I can find in my books indicates anything like this...............any comments? It appears more than 5 bidders are 'clued in'...........

  • I totally vouch for the seller, Bill Elwell, not the coin. He's a person of integrity.

    But not for the coin, which is NOT a mint error.

    When you hang around the US-Philippine series for a while, you'll see proofs like this with a number punched into the reverse. No one I've ever spoken with knows who did it or why. And it's only on the 1906. Think of it as something like a chop mark -- hammered into the coin after the fact. It's of no interest to me, but if that's your cup of tea -- well then go and ...

    Hello Mr Fun, Not my cup of tea either. I just did not find any reference to this type of marking and was wondering if any of the experts out there had seen anything like this.
