For the eBay selling vets out there...

Is this a bad time of the year to be selling cards? It seems like buyers have already invested their money in other gifts. I have gotten my rear handed to me on a number of card within the past couple weeks. Should I have waited to list the cards after the New Year? Is this always a slow time of year, or am I just on a bad run of luck here?

Thanks for your input.

I think your Favre cards are not selling like they use to because of the way he is playing right nowimage

I did fairly well with most of the stuff I listed. The prices weren't out of line with what I was expecting in most cases. I had a few sell below but I had a couple that did better. I think it has to do with the day/time they are ending, if you accept paypal, what your starting price or reserve price is and what your shipping costs are, along with how your feedback is. If all of those things seem on par with other sellers getting more money, than my guess is it's just a bad time to be selling certain cards.

    Just a thought.

  • The card market is generally a little soft just before Christmas....due to people having to pay for the Holiday..
Throw in the fact that Favre is off..or any player for that matter (Sosa,Bonds)...unless the card is a steal or a special interest card - there just isn't alot of snap it up buying going on.

I stopped listing for December, because I always start my raw vintage cards at .99 cents and let them fly....I got tired on letting NM++ or better 60-70's go for dirt...

    So it's not just you!!!

Tax return time is just around the corner..it will turn!!
  • Thanks for the feedback guys. I am a huge Favre fan, but even I have to admit that he is killing me right now. Absolutely killin' me.

I guess my only options are to relist with a reserve (and eat all the eBay costs if it doesn't sell), wait until he makes an announcement on his future, or sit on them and wait for the HOF to come calling, and then cash in.

Your not going to do significantly better than selling now in my opinion. Look at current Marino/Elway sales for a comparison of what will be.

I don't know how much they are down. I hope not too much because I have 75 auctions ending tomorrow night. Bidding looks to be down a little compared to some past listing lots I have made, but the card ake up is always different so ya never know. I hope there will still be that last day push with a 10sec ending surge.
