1971 Topps Greatest Moments SGC 80 Jackson sells for $1300

This card books for $150 in a PSA 6 and has incredible eye appeal, however this card has the gash which will never get into a PSA 7/8. Reggie Jackson is the most important card from this set and does command a premium. Here is the ebay item 8736993582, if someone could do a linky for me I would appreciate it.

I am not as familiar with the set as others, but if it is a tough one and books for 150 in a 6 then 300-400 is not unreasonable ... which is what the two snipers may have thought they would get the card at.

  • That's a very nice card, but not for 1300. A classic example of two guys having to win now. The seller offers really nice items this time of year and the Jax is no exception.

I wouldn't be surprised if either the winner, underbidder or both thought it was an "88" like the auction title shows.
  • I just noticed that it was listed as an 88. Hopefully the winner examined the scan carefully.

I would bet both snipes were set based on the heading and didn't look at the flip. the card looks good except for the puck on the bottom border and I bet they didn't notice. rfractor seems to be a very knowledgable bidder , at leastthe times he has bid against me .

If it was an 88 it would have sold for much more than $1300. I know of four or five guys that would pay more than $5k for a PSA 8/88. I think the card is a gorgeous card and that is why it sold for what it did.

  • great number for that card. Who is rfactor? Is that SSS?
    I love candy cards
  • I had my eye on this as well.
    Not sure who SSS is.

Jeez, just added 7 cards to this set and I didn't even move up a notch.

1000.00 dollar bids based soley on a title? I do not think so. Also fwiw the seller mentions the defect in his description. My take is that both potential buyers knew exactly what they were bidding on.

    Nice example too
