Starting a US Type set ...

There is a Dansco 7070 sitting under the tree. This is something I want to work on with my 10 year daughter (who's already started a Franklin book with all BU's or better). This may be a dumb question but should I have a strategy to filling this? I was just planning on filling it with the best grades my limited budget could afford. Not sure if I need to consider anything else or if it's just simplying filling in the holes.

If you have a 'limited budget' you may be disappointed in not finishing the book.
I too have a limited budget, & those early dollars will be a challenge, especially decent ones.

  • Knock off lower end slabbed coins on ebay, crack them out and enjoy nice coins for cheap. It might be my imagination, but I think I'm noticing a bit of weakness in bidding for ebay coin auctions as of late. Maybe folks are buying christmas presents instead of coins.

BTW, when I ripped through a 7070 a while back I just skipped the hard coins and came back to them later. I started in half cents and moved straight through.

    Good luck.

Do one line or one type at a time. Example: Do the large cents first, then the half cents, then nickels, etc. This way you get to learn about each type as you go along.
