And while the starters played the entire game, does anyone think for a moment the Colts treated this like a regular game? Edge gets 13 carries, while he has been averaging over 25 a game.
The Colts will now surely treat the final 2 games as preseason games with the starters playing the first half and subs playing the last 2.

Let me be the first to say this too. A lot of people will point to a lot of plays in this game as to why the Chargers won, but the play of Manning was uncharacteristically terrible.
Although the final score my not reflect it, the play at the end of the first half where the whole team seemed to think one play was going on and Manning had another on his mind with that bootleg, that cost valuable points.
But as poor as they played, the play of Manning at the end cost them the game. They were driving and in field goal range ready to run the clock and take the lead. Instead Manning has intentional grounding and then a sack!!! They go from a 40 yard field goal to out of field goal range. If there was ANY other QB at the helm, Dierdorf would've been saying that a QB can't allow that to happen. Yet Manning did it two plays in a row!!! I know he was under pressure, but that takes you back to James. If Manning calls two running plays, it takes the clock down to the 2:00 minute warning and Vanderjagt has a 35 yard field goal attempt for the lead.
As it was, they have to punt, and two plays later Turner takes off for the 83 yard scamper. The Colts sure didn't play their best. And like you said, now that the undefeated season is over, they won't play there starters more than a quarter or two.
Let me add, Manning will start both games and he has a consecutive game streak that is only short of Favre's.
All this and it's almost a certainty the Colts will face New England in their next meaningful game. I'm scared already.

it proves they weren't in the game, knowing they had secured home field through out.
it proves they weren't going to risk injury to Edge, giving him nearly 1/2 of his normal carries.

I agree, and unless that changes IMMEDIATELY and consistantly, this team will not win the Superbowl.

They were down 17-0 in the first half...plenty of time to grind out the ball and get some points back on the board. They didn't do that BECAUSE THEY ARE TRYING TO LIMIT INJURIES!

Actually, they were down 13-0 in the first half. And if you had seen the goal-line stand by the Colts to keep them down only 13 (SD 1st and goal on the 4), you would have seen a defense trying to win.
Between their performance this week and last, SD has defined parity.
