I have seen notes in that area before (Jordan on front, Jordan on back, from a full box etc.) but that is a first for me.

  • How can a PACK be "OC"? Surely they're not referring to the WRAPPER being off-center??

    Yes they are.
edited to add: I think lol

anyone remm seeing that 52 pack this week? it was way off center and the guy claimed he wanted to get it regraded and GAI wouldn't do it?

I wonder if that too had the OC designation?

FWIW I have never see the OC before this.

    Good for you.
  • Their grading guidelines (as of this morning) don't mention qualifiers. I don't really like the way GAI treats customers anyway (bad communication, in my experience), but having grading guidelines that don't reflect your actual practice seems a bit careless on top of that. Hopefully PSA pack grading in 2006 will help improve both companies, since we will have a little competition.

they used to use the foolish oc qualifier in the begining when people where complaining that perfect packs , corners ,seal , no tears , etc, were getting 6's and 7's or worse. I had 2 perfect 67 cellos get a 4 and a 5 becasue the top card was oc. so they added the oc qualifier and then after a while , they stopped using it entirely and disregard the centering of the wrapper or top card.
  • I would actually prefer that they consider the card quality for the visible cards (especially top cards) since that is a huge factor in the visual appeal of cellos and has a big affect on selling price as well. I had always assumed they still consider card centering for cellos, but don't see it mentioned in their guidelines. It is mentioned twice here http://www.gacard.net/waxpack/intro.asp as a factor, though. I'm not sure which description to believe. image

Their current wrapper centering standards are documented here http://www.gacard.net/waxpack/gradingstandards.asp, though they do not follow them that closely in my experience, and it usually doesn't bother me (though they should relax and the official grading guidelines rather than just not following them).

I have several GAI 8-9 packs that have small tears in them, which seems like another occasional GAI inconsistency.
