Has anyone seen these before?

I bought some Batman cards from a seller in the U.K. and saw these as well so I figured I might as well spring for these too (Love the similarity to 76 baseball). Has anyone ever seen these and would PSA grade them?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes, there are soccer cards and all kinds of other sports cards from different countries on ebay. I would imagine that PSA would grade them although I'm not sure - give PSA a call.

But can the language be understood? Don't the British speak a different language than we do? - LOL

I cannot tell you much about the cards themselves, but I can shed some light on the teams/player. West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa are both well established clubs in Birmingham, while QPR (Queen's Park Rangers) is based in London, and the player Donnie Masson is a Scot.

Tragically he missed a penalty in one of Scotland's opening round matches of the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, causing the Scots to lose to Peru, expediting their exit from that Wolrd Cup. The mere thought of it inspires tears......

Actually those cards I belive were produced by Topps (Ireland) and yes PSA does grade cards like them.

Very cool cards! Would be fun to find other cards that are similar to other Topp's issues.
  • Thanks to all who have helped out so far. Upon my searches, I have seen 'Footballer' cards that resemble 75 topps baseball, 76 topps baseball, 78 topps football, 77 topps football...this may become my new cardboard conquest...

Does Don Masson look like Klinger's younger brother (on M.A.S.H.) or what? They do look like 76 Topps!

  • Topps made "Footballer" sets in the UK starting with the 74-75 season through the 81-82 season. Several sets mimicked the designs of contemporary American sports sets, as you can see from these examples:

They were made in Ireland for the UK market. In several years there were separate English and Scottish sets produced with the same design.
  • Those are awesome, I have never seen them, Thanks for the scans!
