Adding Scans of Cards To Registry Sets

I'm not very computer literate so I was hoping someone could explain to me how to add scans of cards to my Registry sets. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You in Advance.

War it is actually very easy

1 scan the card I USE 150 DPI AND SAVE AT MAX FOR THE REGISTRY
2 save as mantle45 not mantle 45 you must keep the name together

3 once you get in to the reg click edit (for the card you want to add a pic to) then browse and when the file opens click on the appropriate item then click open the url will transfer to the box

    then click update

    after it uploads click validate

the main thing is how you name it remm no spaces!

    MANTLE45 OR 196545 OR MARSATTACKS1 ETC

    SD
    Good for you.
  • Thanks WinPitcher but I ran into another problem. Scanned the cards at 150 DPI but I keep getting a message that the file size is greater than the 100K allowed. How do I fix that?

If you scan at 150 dpi, make sure you save the scan as a Jpeg Image.

With a file extention of .jpg a standard sized PSA graded card should end up being only about 50 k.

  • Just tried that it didn't work. Anything else I can do?

    War

    did you crop the card?

I just added a card to my mars attacks set at 150 dpi and saved to jpeg file.

    I named the file mars11

i then went into my registry aet.

clicked on edit (to the card i wanted to add)

    etc etc etc.

if you are still having a problem it must be the way you named the file or you didnt save it to a jpeg file like Paul mentioned.

    Good for you.

When saving the scan to your computer,
if you have an option for 'quality level' try selecting 'low' or 'highest compression'.

You should end up with a 150 dpi jpg scan
that is about 500 pixels by 820 pixels with a file size of about 50 kb.

Is there any way, [without photoshop] to take a .jpeg you previously scanned and reduce the size/quality of the image so that it will fit on the Registry? I have the same problem - and I don't feel like re-scanning 100+ cards.

Marc, if you have "photoshop" or something like that on your computer, you can resize the images on it. JEB walked me thru one night, and it works. Resize them at 120 DPI, and save as a "medium" image

I do my scans at 60% using 150 dpi. They come out like this:

    image

They are all 38-49kb, and load pretty quickly even on dial up. I start a new folder for each set and just use the card # as the name of the picture.
  • Go into your scanners photo editor and before you save the image select image size. From there you can manipulate the height and width to get it just below the 100k limit.

Here's an example of how my registry pics appear. This one is 99.8k.

    63 York WB's (50%) 8.52

  • Thanks for the help everyone. I finally figured it out. I have posted pictures of the Airplanes card section of my World In Arms set. I'll probably post pictures of the rest of the set tomorrow. Thanks again for the help.

Thanks guys! Time to start scanning!

  • Warhound,

Your scans are very nice, but I think you should make them a little bigger.

I just added a few scans to my Dock Ellis player set. I have been playing around the last few days trying to get the size and color right. I think I'm happy with how the scan are showing up now.

I don't know what the heck I did, but I was able to get huge scans on all my Wacky packages sets.

  • The only setting that I got to work (when posting the scans) was 72 DPI. If you can tell me how to get them bigger I would apperciate it. Actually I was happy when I got all the scans posted.

Since computer screens are 72dpi I think anything over that is a waste. Use the extra file size allotted to make them bigger.
