I personally buy the story, and I think it gives further credence to why GAI's sealed packs will become relatively worthless/obselete as soon as PSA gets their act together.
I sent the guy a couple emails about that auction - I don't like the terms. No returns and no paypal. He's also had no other sales. I really don't think it's on the up&up. I also saw some of the bidding and figured he didn't like the low price so far and thought he'd do something about it. I wouldn't be surprised if one of his "friendly" bidders won the auction and we see the same item up again for auction here soon. JMHO
If you're only going to get a couple grand for it why not just open it? If I was this guy I would have set a reasonable reserve (or minimum bid), and if it didn't reach that level I'd do something most of us only dream about-- Rip a '52 pack!

I have had this wish for a while now. I saw that last one in Leland's was what 4,200. I noticed the guy's scans were from t206museum.com. That scared me off.
I would split the GUM with Lothar, he has a passion for Topps gum like I have only read about!
I do hate the long drawn out "stories" on Ebay. This story could be true but in any event I ain't bidding, even as much as I would love to own a real unopened 1952 Topps wax pack.
I don't even trust a slabbed GAI pack to be unopened let alone one that GAI returns as resealed with this guy claiming it's unopened - LOL. I'd say the odds are near 100% if not 100% that inside that pack are commons card numbers in the 100's of EXMT-NM off center or miscut cards.
-A GAI 6.5 pack that "should be higher". But look at that tear in the upper right corner.
-A VER, VERY off centered wrapper. In the Mark Murphy pic, you can see that all of the packs are centered except for 1, but even that one has two l's at the end. This pack is even more off centered. What are the odds...hmmmmmm.....
why would you send the flip to GAI on a crackout? why would you think a pack with a huge tare on the top corner extending to the top of the pack was going to be an 8 or higher? these were the 2 things that made no sense to me

I hope Chaz doesn't see this.

His greed came back and bit him on the ass.
