Paypal Buyer Credit is Useless

I've used Paypal Buyer Credit one time, and wanted to use it again on a large purchase.
Instead I found that to use it I had to deplete my Paypal account first.
On this particular purchase, only 80 cents would have gone on the credit line.

Anyone figure out how to use this?

What I wanted to do is use it to buy a large lot or set, upgrade my cards, and then sell the remainder - using the proceeds from the sale to payoff the credit line.

Instead I'm broke until I do this.

Of course, I could go into the hole by buying another large purchase. The credit line will then work for that.

But then... Hey wait a minute? I think I just answered my question.

  • You can get around it (sort of) by sending the money in your paypal account back to your checking account right before paying. Of course, that defeats the purpose of having money in your paypal account, especially if you use their debit card.

I thought about creating a new Paypal account and tranfering the money to that, but then I would get penalized when I transferred the money back since I have a "premium" account.
