When a card pops up on eBay....

When a card pops up on eBay right after it has been in a major auction do any of you get suspicious about the card?
I was thumbing through eBay and found a card that was in Mastro's auction a couple of weeks ago. I sent an email to the seller, who has perfect feedback, and he said the card was obtained from "a major dealer." The serial numbers match up with card sold at auction. Unless he got the card for nothing at auction why would the card go up on eBay the next week?

Part of it seems legit and part of it seems fishy.

Your thoughts.....

  • i have seen cards from mastro go right up on ebay a number of times. sometimes the card sells for more, things do slip through at mastro's every auction. i have also seen the cards sometimes sell for less and the person loses money on their gamble. if it is a quality dealer i would have to assume its on the up and up.image

There was a thread about this on Net 54 last week, although it wasn't about Mastro.

FWIW I recently had a mix up on some Mastro lots and Doug Allen (Mastro president) took care of it personally and went way out of his way to help me out. Definitely on the A list in customer service based on my experience.

    Which one?
  • Actually it was my mistake. I recalled seeing a 33 Sport King Ruth in Mastro's auction and there is one on eBay right now but they were different SN's. I thought at first they were the same SN.

  • no biggie...I would think you'de be better off buying those bigger lots and selling induvidually on ebay, but single cards? Seems risky unless you got a great steal.

I often wonder how sellers do buying those massive caramel card lots that go for over 10 grand and then selling them each. Caramel cards are on fire. If I had the dough.........
