Mucky I must be missing something as the guy does not insinuate that it is gem 10. He claims it is what it is.

Guys everyone that knows anything about this hobby knows that an SGC 10 is out of 100.

I fail to see where the guy makes any statement to the contrary.

he displays a scan clearly showing it to be an SGC10 No where does he hype the card as GEM

edited to add: is the problem in the posts title? is the card Mattheson and not Christy Mathewson?

that is the only problem I can see.

Is it the hi starting price? Im not familiar with the issue so maybe that is it?

Is it the fact that he states you can upgrade it at a later date?

Sorry I just do not see it.
    Good for you.

The seller in my opinion is honest and forthright with the description.

Ebay auction of SGC 10 Mathewson
  • I believe MuckyMutt just isn't familiar with SGC's grading system. Muckymutt, check out SGC's website for futher details.

Hi MuckyMutt. I'm not sure if you know, but SGC uses a different scale for their grading. It's based on a 100 point scale, versus PSA's 10 point scale. SGC now puts both the 100 point grade and also a ten point grade on their holders, but in the past they did not. So, there are many cards in SGC slabs that only have the older 100 point grade. If you would like more information about the equivalent grades from the SGC 100 point scale to the PSA 10 point, please go here: SGC grading scale.
  • Well, ain't I red-faced. image

No, I was not familiar with SGC grading - sorry. Heck, I even spelled Mathewson wrong...

    sorry, couldnt resist
  • I got a good laugh out of your post Mucky. Hey, we have all been there before. I can see the confusion with someone not knowing SGC'S rating scheme.

Is anyone on here familiar with a radio personality named Phil Hendrie? He does voices and basically "interviews" himself as these different characters. The characters are generally very unlikeable and will bash the hometown team or say things that are really out of line. Since it was talk radio, people would call in and argue with someone that wasn't even in studio, it would merely be Phil doing a voice.

I got roped in hook. line, and sinker before I knew Phil's schtick. I got so furious at what one of his guests was saying that I had to call in and give him a piece of my mind. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I found out I had been had.

I also got a little heated at DaBigHurt's blind loyalty to PSA before I found out that that was his schtick too.
