Just received True View of my latest Half Eagles Part I

I sent in a bunch of half eagles for re-grade and decided to spend the extra $5 for the True View Photo Service. I will post them in two messages in case they are too big. Here is the first half:

Thanks for the welcome. This forum is loads of fun. Can't beleive the variety of collectors consistently on an posting. It's like one big party 24 hours a day.
  • nice coins. How close are the photos to their real-life look?

" nice coins. How close are the photos to their real-life look?"

They are pretty close. The e-mail size pics that are posted here look like someone feathered the color a little bit, kinda like feathering with a paint brush (Maybe the pixelization of the reduced image size). The full size pics look much better with more detail. Again with photos it is all in the angle and lighting. It can have a thousand different faces depending on how you look at it.

So to make a long story short they look just like the original but in a light and shading I have not seen before. You can look at my registry and compare some of the older pics and see how different they look.
  • Can someone explain WHY PCGS decided to leave the grade off of their TrueView photos? If I want to know what grade a coin is, I have to go look it up thru the PCGS website. I think the grades need to be on the photos, IMHO.

    AWESOME PICS!!!

I was kinda thingking the same thing about the grades. I can ask the guy who took the pics and post back later.

I got a reponse to the above question. I have quoted it directly.

"Well, the coins simply don't have a final grade when I make the image. Adding the grade would require extra steps, possibly some programming and other confusion.

Basically think of the TrueView photo cert as a package - one could easily open it up and crop the two coin pictures out and put them in a new background with the grade etc. "
