Hi Gang, Sorry I haven't posted here in a long time. JustHavingFun had an interesting post.
Anyway I did have a question: "Does anybody have an excel spreadsheet that will help me figure out how much a particular coin will help my Basic Design (no gold) type set?
I am starting a 1/2 cent set as well so any help there is appreciated. I have 4 coins and am already in 6'th position! That just proves that either I am a genius, or perhaps that 1/2 cents are not that popular

Half cents have always been an overlooked series, IMO. I first became interested in them about 30 years ago, was intrigued by the low mintages, and attempted to assemble a complete set of circulated business strikes from 1800-1857. I eventually had all but the 1802, 1811, and 1831, with many different die varieties. The 1793-1797 coins were beyond my budget back then, at least in the grades that I wanted, and probably still are today. I had 6 of them slabbed (grades ranging from VF25 to AU55) so I could use some in my type sets. If I registered them I 'd have the #6 set, so they really are neglected. I was drooling while looking at the pictures of Michael Spurlock's coins, and at the same time wondering if I should give up some of the more recent series for half cents. They're still bargains compared to large cents and many other series.
Good luck with your set, and keep us informed of your progress.
Jim
p.s. Don't be surprised if I enter the half cent registry one of these days.
I currently have 4 coins and am in 6'th. I will get more photos as time goes by.
PM "Numisme". He built some incredible spreadsheets that do exactly what you are looking for. He provided me with them for all of my registry sets and they work brilliantly!
I'm sure he would love to share them with you IF he has that particular series/set figured in a spreadsheet. My guess is that he does. He really outta put these spreadsheets on the market. I know I'd pay $$$$ for mine and he generously provided them to me for free!
Good luck!
Toby
Welcome back.
