Teletrade win tonight...gem 49D Franklin

Just won this Franklin on Teletrade:

image

I've been looking for a nicely toned, gem 49D for quite awhile, most gems come drab gray or brown.

  • ooo nice, i saw that one earlier
  • Seems there were a few Franklin bargains on Teletrade tonight. Maybe a lot of dealers were burned out from Baltimore. I also won this MS66 53S for $150. FWIW, I was willing to go $1500 on the 49D.

I'll be sure to do that Lucy. I can't wait to get it. I don't think I've ever seen a 49D that I've liked as much.

  • I wonder who did the toning on that one? Could be a Dr. Nick job.

Certainly is attractive! The PCGS 49-D in the next lot went too cheap as well. Dotto for the 63-D NGC66.... it looks like a moose in the pix.

  • Nice-looking 49-D!
  • Jcarney...

You know if you click on those pics that you posted here (but on the TT site) you get another close up picture of obv and rev of the coin. You probably already know that but I just thought I'd mention it...just in case!

  • ...... I.M.H.O the toning is FAKE as heck ; but once it's in the holder , who cares right !?

Try to cross it to PCGS and you will be in for BIG surprise !! image

Have to agree with the cross over thing. It looks beutiful but the last couple of beutiful NGC coins I submitted for crossover got rejected. I had no minimum grade and no explanation why it DNC.

Best of luck it is a beutiful piece.

Afraid I'd have to agree... the pic looks AT.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

I only picked up a 21-D Morgan VAM. Bowed out of the 88-S. Nice slated dated date for the grade with a significant die rotation to boot. 650 bid+bp was too rich to me to outbid the winner.

  • .....I got a look in hand at the other 49-D that sold next to your coin , the PCGS one .

It is also magnificently toned ; but has telltale signs of being doctored as well.

I can not stress enough to all that the grading services are holdering expertly toned coins

    But if it's wonderfully toned and dosn't " turn " over the years - who care's ?
