Prussian Coin Sculptors?

I found a website that had some prussian coins/medals dating from 1870-1912. I noticed one of the designers of the coin was a man named E.Weigand. I found this very interesting as this is my last name, and was probably one of my ancestors. Can anyone pinpoint who this man was, or have any coins designed by him? Any info. I googled with no solid results. Thank you.

I have seen the name on some Prussian medals too, but I know nothing else about him. - Preussen

    I haven’t found much.

Emil Weigand (1837 – 1906) was a famous engraver, trained at the Kunstakademie in Berlin (Academy Of Arts in Berlin) and akademische Graveurschule (Academic Engravers’s School) under Karl Fischer.
He worked in the Studio of Wyon in London from 1863 on. In 1866 he changed to the Prussian Mint in Berlin where he was promoted to the Second Engraver after only one year.
After Kulrich’s death in 1887, Weigand became the First Engraver at the Prussian Mint. During his creative period, Weigand designed and engraved several dies for Thalers and Empire coins.

    For example these coins:

Besides his work for the Prussians, he designed coins for Hamburg, Lübeck, Oldenburg, Saxe-Altenburg, Waldeck as well as for Egypt, Morocco and Mexico and the German colonies German East Africa and German New Guinea.
    He also designed several medals.

Yeah, it isn’t much, but perhabs a little clue.

Edit: Weigand made the obverse designs, the eagles on the reverses of the Empire coins were designed by Kullrich (small eagle) and Schultz (large eagle)
