Ludwig looks scholarly, with his glasses.

<< <i>Scott - After looking at this again, I am amazed at the detail in the beard and fur collar and his hair. It is hard to believe that this is a cast piece!! I think we have seen this same portrait before on another piece, correct?

Similar, but not the same. Most other examples are when he was younger or when Goetz idealized him as younger. You may also be thinking of medals that have his fathers, Luitpold's, image on them. Look at the gallery between K-13 and K-27 and you'll see both of them. Also, Pattern Marks had a similar bust as to K-26.
I'll be beefing up the "gallery" to an actual webpage over the next five weeks. There will be text that will help alleviate any confusion.

I think you can add at least one more "R" to your German Rarity scale if not two. Great medal as always
Scott, do you know if Goetz has had a preference for owls, because this is not hte only piece with an owl on it?
It's one thing to own a coin with only a few known, but something else to own one previously unknown.
