The U.S.A. got a tuff draw this time around for the World Cup in 2006. They have Italy who is ranked 12th in the world, then Czech R. who is ranked 2nd, and then Ghana who is 50th. The U.S.A. is ranked 8th. If they don't win their group and finish 2 they will more than likely face Brazil ranked 1st in the world. Talk about tough.

<< <i>I don't put much faith in the FIFA world rankings, but it is a tough group. I personally think Group C (Argentina, Netherlands, Cote d'Ivoire and Serbia/Montenegro) is tougher, though. >>
True, but the top 2 advance and I don't see Cote d'Ivoire and Serbia/Montenegro doing anything to stop Argentina and the Netherlands. Argentina and the Netherlands are playing for the top seed in their group.
Yeah, it's a tough draw, but what did you expect? I wouldn't be surprised if the USA winds up in the cellar of this group.....just sit back and enjoy the games.
As a native New Yorker, I know I'll be looking for a little cafe in Little Italy to see the USA-Italy match.....it should be nuts down on Grand Street near Ferrara's.

Haven't we been hearing this for 20 years or more? Soccer will never be anything more than a blip on the radar screen in the USA.

I heard that 350 million people worldwide watched the draw...350 million! That's DOUBLE the worldwide audience for the superbowl, and this was simply the selection process. Heidi Klum was there!
That being said, it won't ever be more than a blip here in the states, but the US teams have become much more competitive in recent years. Soccer is a truly team game, and I can't help but think that aspect and that the possibility of tie games are what turn most americans off of it.
