Anyone know a trick for.......

removing scotch or transparant tape from old paper? No, there not baseball cards, lol.

I believe the tape is fairly old in itself, want to see if there's an easy way to remove it without damaging the paper.

My dad has used (very successfully) wax paper under a regular clothes iron to remove tape off cards from the 1957 Topps set he taped into a scrapbook as a kid. Obviously, test it on an "unwanted" piece first.
  • halosfan - thank you for taking my question and hijacking the thread with nonsense........

you may now return to your Saturday morning cartoons.

Well aren't we a bit sensative. The subject was the same. I guess you just don't like to acknowledge that this kind of stuff happens on your block as well.

They still have Saturday morning cartoons??

In all sincerity, good luck restoring the item you are asking about.

  • I have no problem acknowleding that these things happen. Had I opened a thread with that type of information, I would have expected a reply such as yours.

In this case, I'm talking about a completely different question. Please dont turn this into a PSA vs. SGC thing. Haven't we had enough of that?
  • If you put it in a microwave oven for about three minutes, the old tape will sort of dry up and separate from paper/cardboard. I've done this several times.
  • I think I'm liking the iron theory better than the microwave.....the thought of putting something in the microwave kind of scares me actually.
