late respnse to pre 1900 coins

sorry it took so long, but coins aren't what this oxymoron does best...anyways here's what I wrote down so far
Belgium: 1851 5 francs, 1898 10 cent, 1862 5 cent, 1863, 1870 2 cent. Belgian Congo, Zaire 5 ces 1894
Switzerland: 1880 B 1 franc, 1881 B 20 Rappen, 1888 B 5 Rappen
Italy: 1863 M 1 Lire, 2, 1866 N 10 centisimo(sp?) 1867 N 10 cen..., 1861 N 5 cen..
France: 1836 W 5 Francs, 1851 A 1 franc, 1862 BB 10 centimes, 1853 D, 1854 A, 1862 BB 5 centimes I know there are some Louis 14 th, and more Napolean III's
Turkey: 1293 (1886?) 5 kurush
Canada: 1859 1 cent...too many rolls of canadian, I'll get to them later...
Nova Scotia: 1/2 penny token 1840
Netherlands: 1877 1 cent
Austria: 1858 B 1 kreuzer
German states, Prussia: 1860 ein pfund
Great Brittain: 1862 fathing, 1891 penny
Portugal: 1892 20 reis
French Indo china 1886 1 c
Germany: 1875 G 1 pfennig, 1893 A 10 pfennig
As I said berfore these coins are in boxes of military memorabilia, I haven't had time to go through them all. I have 4 children and a mother with alzheimers so I don't get to spend much time on coins, but this website does offer a good bit of comic relief, so I'll try to post them as I find them...anything interesting on the list?

The 5 franc coins are interesting. Especially the France: 1836 W 5 Francs.

  • some coins are in what i would call near mint condition, but i have some questions...i recently bought some du pont mylar lined coin holders, and the pages to put them in a note book from a local coin dealer, and began putting coins in them. after putting the coins in i noticed that some of the coins are begining to have drastic color changes. i do have gas heat which i know gives multicolored tarnish to my silver coffee service etc. what's the best way to store and protect coins? it's ok to clean my other silver, but you guys don't seem to like coins cleaned.

    you shouldn't clean coins

the silver color change is probably toning and is natural
