1st digital images ... what do you think?

Last spring I bought a Canon Power Shot A85. Recently added a stand with 2 lights (Reveal 75w bulbs).

After playing around a little (32 attempts), I produced these two photos - in macro mode with lens approx 5" above coin. Any suggestions for improvement are most welcome.

BTW: this is that 1915 NGC MS65RED that PCGS would not cross. It is now out of the coffin and soon to be resubmitted raw.

I agree. I will follow your attempts with interest. I need to get my coins photographed, and will soon invest in a camera....
  • also, even with the tripod, I use the timer on the camera for hands free shooting. Your color looks vibrant!!image

No tripod, I'm using a Stanright model CS1 and manually taking the shot. I tried different distances to subject and found that 5" came out best. Need to try the timer / remote method.

The software that comes with the camera allows taking the shot from the PC - just need to rearrange my desk to get the setup closer to 'puter.

The color had to be slightly adjusted (a touch more of contrast) to attain the correct shade. What's interesting is that the background color of the stand is actually grey yet it came out tan in all the shots I took.
