$50 Mexican Peso

Questions:

Are these a good source of bullion?
Should they be bought graded; or is counterfeiting a problem with these?

Are these actual 50 peso coins or the onza coins? There are some very low mintage (300 or so) of the 50 peso coins and these aren't really bullion. The 50 peso has 1/2 oz of gold.

There are also 50 peso silver coins.

Oh wow, I was referring to the 1.2 ounce gold coin...

It's just my type of coiin, big and heavy. I was thinking it would be a good way to pick up some bullion. They look awesome too...

    Thanks for the help

The 1947 is a restrike year and is considered a bullion coin. They can usually be bought for a small premium over melt. Ealier years usually carry a small premium over the 47's but usually only about $10 for AU58 Unc 62 type coins. It is real easy to find true uncs in this series so hold out for them. The first few dates will command a substantial premium. Dont' certify them your self but don't pay a lot extra for certified ones.
