Just learned a valuable lesson

I just got my 1920 Lincoln wheat cent back from pcgs. After cracking it out of another graded slab, I determed it worthy of regrad. Am now learning color does matter, but so does ARTIFICAL TONING...... Bummer, any other clues you pros can suggest would be greatly appreicated.

I think you would get a better response posting this on the Coin Forum. Personally I'd like to see a photo of the coin and to know what holder it was cracked out from.

well, __it happens. and your not the Only one. I doubt anyone who has submitted coins has NOT recieved the same shock so do not feel your alone.

Just about all that have cracked & submitted have these stories....even from other top tier graders.
I cracked out a NGC MS62 Peace dollar that came back AU58!

Depending on the coin, just better to buy it graded by PCGS, IMO.

I just learned the same lesson. I sent an NGC AU50 Morgan into PCGS for grading. It was a lock AU55 so I cracked it out. But NOOOOOOOOOO, it's artifical color. Darn, now back to NGC.
