Denver Post reports Colorado to fire Gary Barnett.

That's too bad. He lost his team at the end of this year for some reason and it looks like even in a mountain paradise, winning is every thing.

CU has some major obstacles to climb in finding a replacement I would think. They have the poorest facilities in the big 12. (not barnetts fault.) They have the smallest stadium in the Big 12. (not barnetts fault) They have the toughest academic standards in the big 12 for recruits. (a good thing on the surface but good luck in finding players) They don't have an indoor practice facility (can't imagine that in Colorado this time of year, and again, not barnetts fault) A campus full of liberal wackos. (not barnetts fault) some of the poorest fans in the big 12 (not just in behavior but in support)
The BIG plus is the location!

But Barnett is kind of defined by his defiance and I think getting blown out the last three games of the year was just the motivation the administration needed to swing the axe.

Any guesses who would want to take on the challenge?

  • Frank Solich......? LOL

Sorry - couldn't resist! - Whaddya think of K-State's new coach?

  • I never heard of Colorado having higher academic standards than the other Big 12 public universities. They had to have tightened them recently, as I am sure the thugs they recruited from LA in the early 90s did not have four digit SAT scores!!

Ah, Boulder, the Rocky Mountain equivalent of Berkeley. Beautiful location is correct (I would take the front range of the Rockies over any other location in the Big 12 any day).

Perhaps the trouble with the CU Football program is not the coach, the players, the alumni, the administration or the fans.........................., it may be Ralphie. Maybe the current version of Ralphie needs to be made into training table Buffalo steaks and a replacement found.

Next time CU and Texas play for the Big 12 Championship, I suggest that instead of the football teams playing, have Ralphie and the Texas longhorn steer mascot battle it out in a steel cage death match. Who would win? I think Ralphie would get better odds than the CU Football team.

They had a nice write up about him in the Omaha paper last night. Sounds like he's a guy who really wants to be in Manhattan. Of course, with Bill Snyder looking over your shoulder every minute ight not be that comfortable either. Sounds like Prince, Born in Omaha, raised in Junction City, Ks, might be a good fit at KSU.

I was just repeating what I heard Jim Rose say on KFAB this morning when they did the "news flash" about Barnett. I am just taking him at his word when he said CU has higher academic standards than the rest of the Big 12. Where would you check on something like that any way?

Either way, it will be interesting to see who they get next. image

The alleged sex parties/sex crimes probably didn't cross the administration's minds at all! image

Big, Big Mistake... people are quick to forget his success. Being a College Football coach is a thankless job.

We're supposed to feel sorry for this bum?

The same bum, who after a female student came out and said she was raped by football players, the next day was dissing her in the media, saying she tried out for the team, and was no good?

The same bum who looked the other way as sex scandal after scandal rocked his team, yet he did nothing?

Good to see him go, let's hope he never gets another job where he is around our youth.

I agree, Ax. I'm surprised the guy lasted as long as he did there.
