    I know nothing of the series but that seems to be a lot of wear for a AU58.

    Off center strike?
    Rotated reverse?
    Incomplete strike on III?
    Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

    Besides being weakly struck. . .

    It appears the dies were rotated nearly 180 degrees?

    I found this coin for my brother, who is slowly working on an 1865 "mint set". It has a similarly
    rotated reverse, though not as apparent since this photo doesn't show the reverse in the slab.
    Check out the heavy clash, though - you can see most of the portrait around the III on the
    reverse and see that is is rotated nearly 180 degrees.

    I'm guessing that the small size of the coin and the design of the reverse made it relatively easy
    to get it 180 degrees off if you weren't paying close attention.

    Rotated reverses for this series is not that unusual.
