scratched holder.

Hello,
I am new to PSA and wondered if anyone else has run into this problem. One of my first cards graded came back with a long scratch on the inside of the holder... across the front of the card. I sent an email to customer service over a week ago, but didn't hear back. So I sent another one tonight. Will they normally redo the card? Do you think it will cost me to get it corrected, even though it is their mistake? Should I just send it back, or wait to hear? I couldn't find anything on the web site that discussed this.
I'll try to attach a scan of the card. Thanks!

you sure that it is on the inside and not the outside?

    Good for you.
  • Yes, unfortunately it seems to run across the face and into the side of the holder. The outside appears to be very smooth. This is how it looked when I pulled it out of the box.

  • I would not wait for an email response - it may never happen. I would call the 800 number. if they don't offer then ask for compensation for their error. their standard is a voucher for 2 free grades. but yes they should replace the holder and mail back to you at no charge. make sure to get a name and send a note with the card and reference who you talked to.
  • I feel your pain. I have a card that was slabbed, and there is a hair that runs through the seal, lays on top of the card, and goes up through the flip/label, and out through the seal on the top. I didn't even notice it until I scanned the card for my set registry.

I haven't decided if I am going to have it reholdered or not.

Very annoying. I have a '93 Clemens Refractor with a very thin stratch going from top > down on the front. It's only noticable when viewing the slab at an angle, but it's still very irks me to look at it. Also, I have another '89 Score glossy Clemens that has a hair encapsulated with the card on the back.

As annoying as they are to look at it, I'm not sure it's worth the shipping to send them back for encapsulation.
  • I know the feeling. I recently got back a 61 Yaz PSA 9 that had a few pieces of black "glitter", for lack of a better word, inside the holder. Now the card looks as if it's got some excess print, but it's this trash inside the encapsulation. Cmon PSA guys, how about a little quality control!

NOTHING beats the story that DGF tells about the card he got back from PSA with a PUBIC HAIR INSIDE the holder.

When I get a scratched holder or incorrect label, I send it back with a note. Each time I've done this--quite a few times, now--they've fixed the problem and returned it, no problem. The customer service email address is a black hole.
  • Thanks everyone for your advice and stories! I was unavailable to call today, but will do so tomorrow and see what they say. I'll post how this turns out.
