A friend of mine wrote this dope a note asking him to remove the auction and this was his response

<< <i>Hello. I am sorry you feel this way. I do not just want to throw it away. I
think it is baseball memorabilia, and should be sold to a customer with not
enough money to buy the real card.
Greg >>

I can't believe what some people will do for a couple of bucks. Wait actually I do....... lol

"Hey Bill do you think you could pull out that cool Jackie Robinson PSA label. It's such a neat piece of baseball memorabilia!" image
    What a moron!

I'd be willing to bet that "Near Mint" Yogi Berra he's going to throw in looks a lot like the PSA 2 Robinson that he wasn't happy with the grade on.

It still amazes me how little people actually know about grading. It amazes me even more what some people will list. I have a whole stack of flips at home, I should offer them to him for 10cents each. I could pay for a small submission!
  • Maybe he's hoping PSA will buy it to keep it off the market?

Maybe we can have PSA make a bunch of sticky labels that say "IDIOT" with a serial number for them to glue to their head so we know who they are!!

I don't fault the guy for trying to make a buck. We know that some people buy the slab just for the cert anyway, so why not just drop the whole charade and get to the point? Someone can get working on an entire set without owning one single card. I guess if you want to call anyone an idiot, it would be the people who would buy this. After all, PSA doesn't own the flip, it belongs to this guy and if he wants to sell it to someone who is willing to buy a code in a database, more power to him.
  • Im the idiot that just bid on the thing... Spoke to Lavar in CU Customer service and when PSA recieves the serial they will verify, then, that card will be cleared from the database.

So the dweeb will maybe make a few bucks off me. I sure hope eBay makes a rule against this type of sale in the future. It could get expensive!

  • fdnyladder7,

If you're giving your money away, sign me up for $2 as well.

    Thanks.
  • C'mon DG, from you it's gotta be worth a three dollar bill at least. BTW, we're looking for '52 Topps flips this week! Oh, and no GEM Elites pleeze.

I'm really curious on what basis they removed the auction. It was a legitimate item for sale. The seller was the owner of it, not PSA.

Stupid, yes, but in violation of the selling terms? Not so sure.
  • No reason given, but I think the fellow that runs the Sports and Memorabilia dept is a collector as well. May seem as if his rights have been violated but the Bay's a private company, reckon they can set their own standards and the Constitution doesn't have to apply. At any rate, a favorable outcome... Wouldn't you say?

good news for sure, cause ya know that thing would show up on some cheap reprint. Not that it still won't.
  • I imagine it had to do with the free 1953 card included randomly in every 20th auction won, or whatever it was.

Technically, games of chance aren't allowed.
