USPS codes??

I never has as much luck tracking items for USPS as I do from UPS. The tracking number never seems to stay up to date.

I received a ship date from PSA on Friday December 2nd and for the next three days the tracking number they sent me told me nothing except it was entered in Newport Beach.

Now today, it's saying number not found.

Are my cards coming in today???image

Please tell me they are!!!!

  • PSA ships registered mail which is very secure, but VERY SLOW! The USPS tracking number provided only gets updated once a day, and will only tell you that it's been received and will then tell you when it's delivered. It's not the same as a UPS tracking number where it tells of every stop along the way.

I also have a submission which shipped on 12/2 and I don't expect it anytime soon.

Registered delivery speed can be very quick. I live 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean in Massachusetts and my registered packages from PSA in California arrive in 2 days, 3 if the carrier is lazy. I guess it depends on where you are, my packages obviously get thrown on a plane to Logan Airport, 20 miles from my house. Anything within a thousand miles of Cali, or not near a major airport, probably get tossed on a truck. This is when the delivery time frame goes up exponentially. I know what you are saying about the tracking being late. It always says shipped on XXX and it reads delivered about 36 hours after you have it. A couple years ago it would have each scan listed so you would know where it was in the system. It would be scanned in and out in Chicago, then Boston, and read scanned in at my PO, and soon after read "out for delivery" when the carrier took posession of it. Somewhere along the line the USPS turned into PSA and went from being precise to being very vague. They let you know that they have it "somewhere", but no one really knows where it is at any given time.

In fact here is the current info on my last PSA package:

    Label/Receipt Number: RE14 6957 073U S
    Status: Arrival at Unit

Your item arrived at 5:18 pm on November 28, 2005 in NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92660. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

My 5 days auctions of the cards in this delivery end in 5 hours, I've had the cards about a week and the USPS still thinks that they have the package according to their online tracking. Great system!

Thanks for the help, didn't know how it worked. Definately not as helpful as UPS tracking system.

In fact, I received an updated email today about two hours AFTER I received my package.

At least my cards are here. Shawn.
