Why they do it???

Can anyone please explain the rational of keeping your stud players in after the game is clearly won?

I watched Tony Dungy keep sending Edgerin James up the middle late in the game against my Patriots a few weeks ago even though James was aproaching 30 carries and the game well out of reach, last night Shottenheimer puts Tomlinson in after the game was clearly won even after LT had a minor injury earlier in the game, why wouldnt he keep running Turner? He was chewing up yards. I just dont get this, why risk injury on meaningless plays?

Anybody??

  • After losing to the Patriots 5 times in a row, I think Dungy did not want to take ANY chances.

Could have been a bit of retribution for NE owning the Colts the past several years.

I know the Colts are undefeated, but I still am not convinced they are going to win it all...they've had a nice go of it schedule wise (both Indy and Pitt having down years)...cincy lit them up like the 4th of July, and if cincy plays some semblance of defense, they'd have won that game.

On topic, I think it is the competitor who urges the coach to keep him in the game...versus the coach keeping him in the game. That's why the are studs. Regards.
