Texas - So. Cal., Predictions ???

jaxxrjaxxr Posts: 1,258 ✭✭
Looks certain the Longhorns from Austin Texas will go to the Rose Bowl and shall face the Trojans from LA California.

Great traditions for both schools, a few national titles and player of the year awards in their fine histories.

Both had close calls with a Midwestern team this year, Ohio State played very tough in the early season and gave Texas all they could barely handle. Notre Dame gave USC a very very close game mid-season. The rest of their respective schedules featured teams in their conferences and locals. I think Texas played four rated teams, USC five during the year.

Anyway, it now comes down to the playing field, NOT polls, computers, nor sportswriters. Lets try our luck in picking the final score........here's my guess/prediction;

Texas 33 USC 31

    USC 52 Texas 20

Although I am rooting for the Longhorns, I just think SC will put the clamps on Texas running game and force Young to throw all second half and he will not get it done.

    Just Play The Game..........
  • 38-35 Texas. I'm just hoping for a good game. I think Young can handle the pressure. It's the other positions I'm worried about. They have no star Rb or Wr.

Texas hasn't played anyone good in months...they are soft, they are lazy, and they are going to get hammered by a tested and ready USC squad.

This game won't be close, as texas has no answer for either Leinart, Bush, or White...a laugher, USC will roll by 20+.

    USC rolls by 25, let's say 42-17.

ps, oh yeah and Bush and Leinart tie for the Heisman! image

    USC-45
    TEX-10
  • Texas defense is better than UCLA, so USC scores less than 30. Problem is, Texas will only score 17.

    USC, 27-17.

What are the odds on Bush winning the Heisman now, 1-20? (bet $1, win $1.05)?

wish i were as confident as some of you guys. i obviously like usc, but don't expect a repeat of last year's pasting of OU. i think pete carroll and the team's composure in these situations will help them prevail, but it'll be within 10 points. 41-35, maybe.

USC will have a month to prepare for and shut down vince young...shut him down, you shut down UT.

This game won't be close, and those who are so ignorant about football will finally have to admit that this USC team is among the best to have ever taken the field.

Shutting down Young seems to be easier said than done, but, like you said, Pete Carroll's ability to prepare and adjust might be the best in the game. I totally didn't expect us to completely shut down a good UCLA offense - especially after the Fresno State scare - but Carroll obviously cooked up some good schemes during the two weeks of woofing and ultimately unfulfilled hype.

I'm hoping for a good game, but #5 could make it a blowout if Texas isn't ready.

    37-33, Texas.
  • USC, for all their hoopla, has not faced a "complete" team this year. That is to say, strong on both offense and defense. USC's offense is scary good, and Reggie Bush is not from planet earth.

USC has not faced a dual-threat QB like Young all season, and has not seen a team as complete as the Longhorns. The USC defense wilts in the second half from chasing Vince Young all over the field.

    USC 27
    Texas 35
