OK, I'm a little slow to think of things sometimes. But all this talk about trash and
gas station tokens reminded me that New Orleans went under an average of about
four feet of water. I suppose this means millions of Mardi Gras doubloons will end
up in landfill.
It's hard to get a good handle on it but one would think that we lost some 20% of
the surviving numbers in one fell swoop. This would include relatively few of the
scarcer issues unless there was widespread local collecting. There were a couple
of major suppliers in this area. I wonder how they fared?
