Hello all,
Personally, i think OHIO STATE deserves it. If any of the other teams would have had to play texas and a big ten schedule they would certainly not have the records they have now.
ps. my choice has nothing to do with the fact that i was born at OSU hospital,,, that i lived on campus for a few years,,, work in columbus,,, etc......

They should have beaten Texas early in the year dammit!
OREGON has a fine team.
But in the BIG TEN they have 3 or 4 losses. (Penn. ST.,, MICH.,, OHIO ST.,, WIS. )
IMO.

but they don't, and who's to say they would have that many losses?
They are a one loss team, and are as deserving as any.
Why wouldn't the BCS "at large" automatically go to the team with the highest BCS rating??
If they picked a lower ranked team, wouldn't that sort of defeat the purpose of their "formula"?
They all need hotel rooms,, meals,, rental cars,, etc.... Don`t kid yourself, these bowl people represent a city. All the city see`s is $$$$$$$.
And the television people,, they want the biggest audience they can get. A NOTRE DAME vs OHIO STATE match up would draw a much larger tv audience than
a OREGON vs NOTRE DAME game. That means $$$$$$$$
So i wonder,, will a better record REALLY matter ???

<< <i>Another fact that is well known with the bowl folks is this, OHIO STATE will bring darn near a stadium full of fans. Anywhere in the country.

The question was asked who 'should' get the at large bid. Oregon's been as tough as anyone in the country, and their only loss at USC. By merit of their schedule and their record, they should have the at large bid.
FACT; OHIO STATE has played 5 top twentyfive teams (northwestern #22 - michigan #19 - wisconsin #18 - penn. st. #3 - texas #2) OHIO ST. WAS 3-2 (lost to #3 + #2)
FACT; OREGON has played 2 top twentyfive teams (fresno st. #25 - usc #1) OREGON WAS 1-1 (lost to #1)
FACT; OREGON has played a weaker schedule, by far.
FACT; TCU is 10-1, how come no one is saying they should be the BCS "at large" team ?
FACT; Because TCU play`s a weaker schedule. Like OREGON.
The number of losses a team has must be compared to the strength of their schedule.

Check the Rose Bowl results when they played against the Pac 10.
The Bowl games will show the real picture for this year and then we will start all over again next year. Two weeks, in late December and early January, tells the whole story about a Collecge Football Season.
OK, lets try this, OHIO ST. barely lost to #2 TEXAS
OREGON barely beat #25 FRESNO !!

<< <i>Fairlaneman,
you forgot to tell us who you think should be the "at large" team.
or
Were you just BIG TEN hating ??
hb. >>
I do not hate the Big 10 or any conference for that matter. Good college football teams are a pleasure to watch. What I do hate is all of the un-warranted hype that some teams and conferences get from the media. The Big 10 certainly gets its share. Just listen to MushMouth on TV. That boy is afraid to come out West. Of course we do not want him out here. Keith is just fine.
As far as the at large berth. I did state that I thought Oregon was over rated a little this year and I am a Duck fan. With that said I believe someone else deserves the pick.

Why change your post ? Stand behind what you say and leave it up.
BTW ....Oregon did play and beat atleast 2 other teams that were rated in the Top 25 at the time they were played.
I only changed my post because i saw (too late) your previous posts with the whole go ducks quaaack thing. Thus, you had already stated your pick.
And while i was changing my post,,, you replied. Sorry, my fault.
NOW,,,,,,,,, what do you reply to my REVISED post.

You obviously believe ohio state should be the at large...others believe other teams, yet you sit there and slam people for posting who they think should be the at large?
Why not just start a thread that says 'ohio state is the best team!'? I mean you ask for people who they think should get it, then leave it at that...don't slam people's opinions in a thread where you are ASKING for them.
start your own thread, and do what you want with it.
don`t like this thread,,,, stay off it.

<< <i>It's pretty poor form to ask for people's opinions in a thread, then slam them when they are made.

pretty rude

Hey slappy, your thread is titled 'who should get the BCS at large bid'.
Numbskull, that's ASKING people for their opinions...don't ASK for opinions, then talk down to people's opinions.
I wonder who's alt ID you are, to be coming on here with all 30 posts you have and running your mouth like that.
They lose to Texas (at home....if they were a worthwhile program this year they would have won that game), and they lost to Penn State.
Oregon, 9-1.
They lost to the best team in the land, USC.
There's no way a 2 loss team should be ahead of a one loss one...if that's the case, then through out the BCS and just put the same teams in year in and year out, as it's obvious the play on the field doesn't mean a bit of difference.
I, at no time "slammed" fairlaneman.
I did ask for opinions, but that does not mean there cannot be interplay between posters.
And i meant what i said, if you do not like the way a thread is going,, stay off,, don`t post. Or do you feel that you are the moderator of threads that you do not like ??
And as far as being an alt. ID - NO
and my 30 posts,,,, well, i`ve been around for 48 yrs. and i learned some time ago, QUANTITY DOES MEAN QUALITY !
I do not use foul language,, nor do i call people names.

You asked for opinions, then tried to minimalize the (superior) choice of oregon.
Ask for opinions and leave it alone...if you wanna debate it, don't ask for opinions.
