What 1878 7 feather has the strongly doubled motto
but not liberty??
And does a 1880 have a spiked chin and clash in lips Vam??

Ok, with 1878 coins you always start with the reverse. There are a couple hundred vams, so I'd recommend getting attribution guides.
There are separate 1878 8TF, 7/8 TF and 7TF guides.

1878 b1 reverse type - Long Nock....vams 70 to 84a. 70 has doubled motto...looks like 70 to me. Nice score. Top 100 coin. Goes
for $140 in MS60, $175 in MS63.

The 1880 is a common clashed die. Coin press struck each other, but no coin in place so the spikes you see are part of the wreath
from the reverse....neck line is part of the eagles wing edge.

This photo shows a more extreme 1880 Clashed Die....that earned a vam number. 32A.

Behind the head you can see the wreath leaves. Under the neck look for letter 'IN'. Transfered from the reverse during the die clash. Rare and desireable.

I agree with VAM 70 on the 1878. Nice! Couldn't tell you on the other one.
