What guidance/feedback/training does a Junior Coin Buyer get from a Senior Coin Buyer?
I think that most, if not all, firms have a slew of coin buyers who travel the bourse, looking for coins to buy. For example, I assume that Heritage has a bunch of coin buyers at each show who go through other dealer's inventory. For someone who is hired by Heritage (to pick a firm) as a coin buyer, and who does not have a lot of experience, what sort of training process does that person go through? For example, does that person get turned loose on the bourse, and have a dollar limit (per coin or in total) as to how much he can spend? Or is the Junior Buyer told to find Morgan dollars in XX grade, and his spending limit is $x per coin or $xx in total? If Junior does go off on his own, how does he get critiqued or otherwise given feedback by the more experienced buyer? Or does Junior Buyer follow around Senior Buyer and Senior shows Junior the type of look that Heritage likes, what a typical grade should look like, etc.?
