1889 and 1890 P Half Eagles.
I wouldn't hang my hopes on an upgrade, at least from the pics.

i have looked at a lot of half eagles, good and bad pics, and these
look like they have the chatter of XF45 coins.
the luster prob saved them and a lack of wear in key places.
i like the 1889 better than the 1890.
the 1890 has almost half the mintage of the 1889 though.
I will have to go online and look at other examples of these dates.
Heritage is prob the best place. I will compare what others bought
to these coins.
Honestly, i do not like the look of them. I will offer him 1000 for both.
600 dollars can buy a lot of coin. I would rather save and get a much
rarer example from the 1860s and 1870s minted in san fran. Or maybe an older key date P from the same eras.
If either of those pics caught my eye, I would have already bought the coin. Those pics are telling me to wait, do more research, and be patient.
perry: you are right, his pics suck ;-)
