My gosh, what a farce by the "grading company" and also the seller...MS-61-ish at best, not to mention the horrible AT/Damage/Cleaned-Retoned color...yuck!
The sad thing is it sold for 25 to 50% more than it would if not in this crap holder and properly qualified by the seller.
Hmmm, looks like the seller has pretty good feedback for all the transactions done. (that does matter right?) And, And..... He didn't cover up the slab (like some folks we know) so one definitely knows what they're bidding on. And, seller states what grading company... so what's the problem?
OK, so his feedback ain't so great but has many happy customers though. Heh

this seller sells hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of overgraded RARITIES and such, week after week.
I don't know how they continue to woo people, but they do. I am sure Laura could not call this guy a WANNABE.
If that coin is an MS67 with the marks on the face, it must have been graded using Braille and 67 was the number of gouges
This coin dealer does sell a lot and I won't knock him, but I pity the people who buy from this seller. I trust one grading company. PERIOD. It's why I am HERE
and it took me over fifteen years to trust THIS company with MY coins.
TNFC does sell way too many 3rd world slabs, no doubt. But, I have bought PCGS stuff from them before and they have good customer service. They hooked my up with some free shipping and held stuff to combine auction wins, etc... Also, I remember a thread a while ago about up and coming numismatists/dealers and a number of people named a youngster from this company.
Good company selling lame-ass company plastic? Who knows...

buy the coin, not the plastic >>
Good points but I am still stuck on the seller's lack of ethics in not disclosing a "warning" of some sort. Just doesn't seem good for our hobby.

In addition, the seller quotes greysheet bid of $3,400 for this turd of a coin, so I do not consider this seller a "good company" no matter how many PCGS slabs they sell in other auctions.

I hear ya. And since it's not a board member they should be tar and feathered. But, but, how bout when it's a board member and seller held in high regard? Always curious on this one and still trying to learn.

You have a good point, Stman. I would like to think that someone has tried to contact this seller regarding this issue, but I doubt it. At least with a board member you don't even have to leave this site to send a pm, but it ain't that much tougher on ebay.
I've thought about this subject a lot since the weekend, and I think a chance to make good should be in order whether the seller is a member or not. They deserve a chance to explain or change before they are dragged into an open forum. JMHO
Did you check out the other "great" deals with the listing? DMPL 1903 Morgan, actually AU as well as some other junk. Looks like they are getting out of business and cashing out for as much as possible. Not Good! Pete

It got bumped a grade or two (or three or four) because of the spectacular toning. Most grading companies will do that, especially the more reputable ones like National Numismatic Certification.
You know that sometimes with the specatacular toning some of the contact marks become really hard to see.
The graders may also be wearing Beer goggles which makes it even harder to tell.
Having followed TNFC auctions I can tell you he never puts up a legitimate valuable slab without a reserve or high starting price. The purchaser of this piece of crap is a purveyor of *^&?%?#@^&&*(* on eBay and has been on my no bid list for a long time.

...and I'm STILL laughing.Thanks, stman!
On another note, I'm shocked the NNC would overgrade yet another coin!

You didn't miss anything on that one.

Hey, PCI is the PCGS of the 3rd world slabs at this point. NNC is a joke!!
