Does Bowers & Merena need to step it up or must it just step aside?

I received the new Bowers & Merena auction catalog yesterday. I also received the Heritage catalog, as well as the ANR catalog. Both the ANR and Heritage catalogs are in full color, the pictures and descriptions in the ANR catalog are great, and the Heritage catalog's pictures seem to have improved to an almost acceptable level.

Then I took a look at the B&M catalog. The pictures were all black and white (except for a few pages of color plates), and in my opinion, the quality of the pictures was not there. The descriptions were decent and acceptable, but the overall look of the catalog just didn't measure up to the ANR and Heritage issues.

Did anyone else get the same impression? Or does the B&M catalog just not matter because full color pictures can be viewed on their website, and only old crotchety people look at auction catalogs anyway?

Not surprised. B&M seems like a newer player with an old name to me, with ANR being the "old" B&M.

I don't understand why B&M hasn't been a stronger contender on the web. After all, they are in the same company as Teletrade, same building in Irvine even, and Teletrade is pretty decent on the web for what it does.
