Three Cent Silver: Clashed Dies Seem Common?

It seem like every silver trime I see was hewn from clashed dies. How common? How common are error-free three cent silvers?

The same thing can be said about Type 2 gold dollars. It must have something to do with the very thin planches requiring the spacing between the dies to be extremely close.
