Do you feel strange when you're the only person bidding on an ebay auction......

Recently, an ebay seller had a bunch of OBW dime rolls 1953-1964 inclusive. All were priced fairly for a start price. I bid and won on many....in fact, I was the only bidder. For example, the same day I lost a OBW 55S roll at $47 while the one I won where I was the only bidder, I won 3 rolls at $35 each. However, while I feel I got the rolls for a fair price......I feel a bit concerned that I was the only bidder on all 12 of the auctions. The seller has 300+ feedbacks at 100% rating, the listings were in the right category, the titles were accurate, there wasn't much text but how much do you need with a picture of an unopened roll (I also emailed the seller confirm the rolls were unopened). Why am I so nervous?

Ever had something like this happen to you?

  • I dunno, most of the time I HOPE I am the only one bidding.

For significant items, yes. In many cases, though, I am the only bidder because I am bidding on a medal that has no base of collectors interested in it.

There have been a few occasions where I was convinced of the coin and seller quality, and I ended up being the only bidder. It feels a little odd, ( I keep asking myself, "what do others see that I don't see?") but it's worked out every time...

Ebay is all over the place these days. I just closed two auctions on Thanksgiving Day and did VERY well. And I just bought some raw gold and HOPE I did well. The gold went very reasonable and normally I would be nervous but some known heavy gold buyers were in the feedback history so I felt more comfortable.

Now through CHRISTMAS DAY is a great time to be looking on ebay. Last year on Christmas Eve, I bought a raw 94-s AU half eagle for $247.
Last week I bought another very hard to find better date S mint half eagle in +/- AU(bad pics) for not much more than melt. There is a shortage of bidders on many auctions right now for certain coins.
    Have a nice day
