Postem if you gottem,Weekly Newps

I have been on the lookout for this particular lion for quite awhile. Cosmic has a supurb proof, tho his may be the Penny. I believe there are only 100 of these. This is a 1791 Circulated Sierra Leone One cent coin with a planchet defect on the region of the front paw. Looks like a large carbon deposit that upon crushing did not expand the metal all the way for the Roundness of a normally struck piece.

K-319 FRITZ REUTER, Death Commemorative, 1924, Struck Silver, 36mm, VZ.

Commemorating 50 years of his death, July 12, 1874.

Obverse: Bust front (muled image from earlier K-33 medal)

Reverse: Large oak tree sheltering stone sitting bench in foreground inscribed with birth and death dates. A lyre rests against the trunk of the tree. A Castle (Wartburg) sits atop hill in the background above tree.

An eloquent tribute to the Nationalist Reuter. Goetz includes the 1000 year old Ivenack oak, one of a number located near Reuter’s birthplace of Stavenhagen. Wartburg castle, imaged above the oak of the reverse, is located in Eisenach, Reuter’s place of death.

Also made in 80mm Cast bronze.

Just arrived today and nicer in hand than the image. Very flashy with nice cartwheel luster and a light golden patina. It also has a stronger strike than many of the 1921 50 Centavos mintage.

Thanks, Ajaan image. I took the advice of many and started with the key dates for my NZ predecimal collection. Also picked up a choice 1940 Florin, which I'm told is another tough coin. Will scan when it arrives. Any advice from the forum on collecting New Zealand would be greatly appreciated.

I went to a local coin store I just discovered and got this for about 6% over melt including state tax. Pretty flipping cool if you ask me image

I feel as though I should add in my last Japanese purchase from a couple weeks ago...I seem to have lost the flip side picture for now..it's a 20 sen. The picture sucks, but in hand it has pretty tarnish and has nice reflective fields, without too much scratchery (I are a world class coin grader image).

I had to let go of some dearly loved coins to help pay for it, but I am eagerly awaiting this one. It is my first Teutonic Knights Order taler.

These 2 arrived this week (sellers scans)

Middlesex Political and Social Series D&H #211 honouring William Pitt, who at the age of 24 became Britains youngest Prime Minister in 1783. Minted in White Metal and listed as RR.
    image

Suffolk Bury D&H #27a - a common token with a rare edge legend, listed by D&H as RRR.
    image

The seller was the imfamous (at least on the lightside forum) eBay seller ernie. He listed the Pitt medal as XF and the Suffolk as UNC. I entered both into my database as AU. An English dealer or auction house would likely list both as EF or nearly so.

    Hi all!

I have had an usually crappy week looking for stuff to buy.

I did manage to pick up my first Victorian Crown an Indian 1893 One Rupee from Spinaker which is pretty sweet!

Then I was able to pick up three coins for my daughter's 2003 birthyear collection from the Ukraine.

    Ukraine 2003

And I also found a Slovakian coin for that collection too!

    Slovakia 2003

I also got some Prussian coins coming from the Ajaan, but no pics.

Hopefully I'll find some more stuff this weekend.
