More up my alley. The grade is MS 63. The VAM is an EDS of VAM-1i, aka "Die Break N"...Mike

I have no idea what NNC would grade it. MS 65?

  • Great guesses. I agree on the MS63. It's in an NNC MS64 holder. Not sure it's EDS though. How big does the break have to be?

I said EDS because the diagnostic die chip didn't look complete in the first photo and also but the rest of the die cracks aren't present. The second shot shows the die chip is complete but I stick by my statement about EDS until someone who really knows what they're talking about pipes up...Mike

  • I go along with EDS

The chip has fallen out of the die, so MDS. EDS would be a crackout of the break area, when the chip
hasn't fallen out. Here's an example. Photos 1-2-3 are EDS, Photo 4 has the chip out and qualifies.

I'm still looking for an LDS retained cud with this one....I'm convinced it may exist...I found one that was
almost a cud last year. So, if anybody finds one with the die fully cracked from rim-to-rim and metal
pooling up inside the crackout area, PM me. You've got a retained cud, and that's very LDS.
  • Thanks folks....

  • I'm way late to the party... sorry. This isn't EDS. As pointed out above, the die break is complete and the metal is raised up. Its at least MDS and I'm leaing toward LDS. The break does raise up a little more and appear a little bigger in the latest of die states but I think this is still a really nice and desirable example.

    Cool coin.
