36 Columbia Celebration tie in pieces.

About six months ago EvilMCT told me about this little shop here in Columbia. The place is cinder block construction abd painted white with one sign that is small "Stamps Coins". This place is not open on a regular basis, so you have to time it. I have not been by there before when they were open. This Friday that changed. When I walked in the the place is so disorganized in appearance. But the fella running it knows where everything is. In the case I find not one but four enveloped mailed on the opening day of the 1936 Columbia celebration, March 22nd. Each was mailed to the same address in town and has the program inside. They have a different stamp on each, a Charleston celebration, a 32 washington, a grand canyon, and a Texas commerative (the texas commem tie in) I will post pics in a while. I could not believe I found those and such great shape! I need the book, the 2 wooden nickel, and the 5 wooden nickel. Hope he has this stuff too!

Neat stuff. It's a real marvel that any of this ephemeral material survives!

No I don't collect stamps anymore. Its a tie in to the 36 Columbia set I have with the original paperwork. A fella PMed me about a ticket to the ball that would have occurred on Monday the 23rd of March, 1936.

Hopefully he'll have another copy of the book as well. The one he showed me was in excellent condition. Nice pickups.
