NGC GRADES LOTS OF 2005 LINCOLN PROOF CENTS
I took a look at the population reports from PCGS & NGC for Lincoln proof cents graded since 2000. Here is what I found:
YEAR--------- PCGS--------NGC--------PCGS70-----NGC70
2000-------- 3,192-------- 2,070------49---------240
2001-------- 3,018-------- 1,832------36---------229
2002-------- 3,303-------- 2,228------30--------259
2003-------- 4,032-------- 5,160------43-------542
2004---------2,513-------- 2,562------35-------319
2005---------2,949-------- 8,063------47------1,303
Without looking at other denominations I wondered why NGC has tripled output on these Lincolns this year over last year. Anyone have a logical idea?
Amazing 70 numbers for NGC compared to PCGS. I never realized there was such a difference. I guess that's why PCGS is the grading service of choice for Lincoln cents.

<< <i>That is kind of interesting. How do the PF70DCAM numbers look? >>
Richard, thanks for the request. I just looked it up and posted it in my first message. VERY INTERESTING!

<< <i> My perception is it is easier to get a 70 out of NGC than PCGS. >>
Exactly.
The OFFICIAL grading service for the Coin Vault.

<< <i>A fine example of why the strong money in the modern market always goes to PCGS coins. NGC is starting to rival ICG in the 70 department. It's a darn shame imho. Compare the prices realized of PCGS Proof 70 or Business strike MS67-68's to NGC 70's/67's......The market knows the difference. >>
One can say that...but what about all the times that people say they can't see why something didn't go PR70dcam? I've heard people on here say that PCGS is too tough on those coins. Maybe NGC is grading them accurately and PCGS isn't?
Without seeing them, I have no way of knowing, and if they deserve to be PR70DCAM/UCAM, then I don't think that they should be graded less just to keep a quota or perception going.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
So, are folks just submitting better coins, or has the manufacturing been improved

The Proof 70 Lincoln PCGS coins I have seen are truly exceptional. I believe there is a difference. But you are correct in your observation of seeing before knowing. Always buy the coin and not the holder.
