Why is centering guidelines tougher on reverse of card?

I am trying to self grade a bunch of card and was wondering why PSA guidelines are more strict for centering on reverse of card? Also should I be grading these on PSA standards if I am not going to submit them? I am just trying to figure out the fairest grade to see how the value is vs. what I paid. Thanks.

they're not.. they're actually pretty lenient with the centering on the back.. it can be up to 90/10 and still get a PSA 9.. i've had PSA 9's that were perfectly centered on the front, and almost miscuts on the back..

Yep, what Perry said. Back centering criteria is much more lax than fronts.

Saint: What exactly are you referring to?

  • My mistake guys...I was reading an article and got it mixed up...it was confusing, I should have read it twice.

On a semi-related note...I am grading my high end (high end for me anyway) cards and it is tough...my 1955 Aaron which I thought was an Ebay steal at $136 is not such a steal anymore after I gave it an EX grade.....
